How does Saree get Manufactured? - 13 Steps
Everybody here may be aware of how to wear saree, it’s very simple I guess… But do you know how this saree gets manufactured? What is the process from which a piece of fabric turns to a beautiful saree? Different colors, different styles, different designs… How are these things applied to a simple blank piece of cloth? Indian women have craze of buying Sarees! There are so many types of sarees we have. Different states of India have it’s own Special Saree and different wearing style. Simple Printed Sarees, Designer Sarees, Georgette Sarees, and many more options are available for all beautiful women.
You may be have curiosity to know the process of manufacturing sarees. During the manufacturing of saree, the saree fabric is passed from a long process, you may be not aware of. Here, you can find step by step procedures of manufacturing sarees from processing raw fabric to a beautiful saree.
Step - 1 : Stitching all the fabric pieces into one
The very first step is to combine all the pieces of raw fabric into a single piece. For that fabric pieces are roughly stitched by the workers.
Step - 2 : Washing the fabric in a JET dyeing machine
Before printing takes place on the saree fabric, it is deeply washed in the huge JET dyeing machine. This process is very important because it eliminates the marks and invisible dirts from the fabric and deeply cleans it.
Step - 3 : Drying the Fabric
After a deep wash, the saree fabric has been dried in the huge dryer machine in the factory. The Dryer machine dries up the fabric very quickly and then the bundle of saree fabric is passed for next phase.
Step - 4 : Deciding the width of Saree
The saree fabric is now ready for further processing like resizing the fabric, printing designs on it and so on. In this step, the fabric width is checked for an appropriate saree size. And of course the the fabric is resized by cutting the excess fabric if required.
Step - 5 : Folding the fabric
Now the saree fabric is folded properly using the fabric folding machine to eliminate the wrinkles on the fabric. Now the long saree fabric becomes ready for cutting process
Step - 6 : Cutting the large fabric into specific sizes
After folding the large saree fabric, it is cut into several pieces for further processes. The cutting process is the manual process, done by the factory workers. The folding of large fabric makes the fabric cutting task very easy and quick.
Step - 7 : Saree designs are created side by side
What does make saree so beautiful? Obviously, it’s designs and it’s colors. Therefore, various new designs are created for the saree by the designers along with the color selection. Then some designs are selected to be printed on the pieces of saree fabric. These designs are now sent for testing.
Step - 8 : Testing the design before implementation
The selected saree designs are now tested before the actual printing of saree gets take place. If the designs are properly get printed on the test fabric, then the design testing is successful. Now the design is passed for next step, i.e. Saree printing.
Step - 9 : Printing the designs on the Saree Fabric
The saree fabric is now ready for printing with the selected designs. The saree designs are pasted on the blank saree fabric by the large printing machine accurately. In this phase the saree gets a new colorful look and it also makes you colorful when you wear these beautiful sarees.
Step - 10 : Processing the printed fabric into the Loop Machine
Now you may not be aware how the colors and designs on the saree fabric become permanent. This step makes it possible. In this phase, the printed fabric is processed in the Loop Machine to make the print last forever.
Step - 11 : Finally washing the printed fabric
After processing the printed fabric in the loop machine, it is thoroughly washed. This process removes the printing chemicals and unwanted odors from the fabric and the saree fabric becomes fresh and skin friendly.
Step - 12 : Drying and folding the printed fabric
Finally, after the last wash, the printed saree fabric are dried up. Now the long saree fabric is being folded properly using the folding machine.
Step - 13 : Now the printed fabric bundles are ready to send for last touch up
Bundles of printed saree fabric are created. These bundles are ready to be sent for last touch up. Now the last touch up work starts one by one like cutting the fabric in appropriate saree size, saree border stitching, adding border lace if required, and so on.
Finally, these bundles are sent to different vendors who are now responsible for supplying the beautiful sarees into the market.
